Hand in Hand toward Collaboration in Research
In the aim of promoting Partnership between King Saud University and the Institute of Public Administration to improve scientific research and implement the knowledge based economy concepts, Vice Rectorate for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research held a training course tittled " Databases for scientific publication in ISI" on October 28,2015
The training course was attended by leading women in the IPA headed by the director of the women branch at IPA Dr.Hend Al-Shiakh
In the reception of the attendees, Assistant university rector of graduate studies and scientific research for qualitative initiatives Dr.Ebtisam Al-Olayan, the dean of the university studies centre Dr.Gazeal Al-Aisa and a number of leaders at King Saud University
The training course started with a description of the importance of publication at the journals listed in the ISI, then it discussed the standards of international publication and how to choose the appropriate journal. Furthermore, it expressed the principles of scientific research and how to deal with the academic journals at the internet
The IPA delegation expressed that they are impressed by the training course and they are looking for cooperation in other training courses in this field to enrich awareness of scientific publication value among institute leaders and they stressed about the leading role of King Saud University in supporting scientific research
The Director of the Women Branch at IPA Dr.Hend Al-Shiakh thanked Assistant university rector of graduate studies and scientific research for qualitative initiatives Dr.Ebtisam Al-Olayan and the research centers' managers for their cooperation and their effort to activate the partnership
The cooperation between KSU and IPA with their national cadres will open the door for researchers to work in mutual applied researches. Furthermore, The IPA - because it tackles with public sector difficulties- restrict the most common research obstacles of economic and administrative development in Saudi Arabia. Also, King Saud University with its distinguished cadres and support services for researchers will enhance research projects
Regarding to the obstacles faced by the researcher during his publication process, Dr.Hend answered that the academic researcher faced major obstacles such as lack of awareness of the demands of publication in international journals, how to create the academic transcript. Moreover, the faculty members have many administrative and teaching responsibilities that hinder series, productive researches. Therefore, it limits their participation at seminars, conferences and scientific events
Also, the weakness of financial and technical support and the hiring regulation of faculty members encourage individual work. However, the mutual researches are significant to improve the academic outcome
Afterwards, she mentioned the vision of Saudi women role to boost research toward knowledge based economy that research status whether locally or regionally doesn’t reach the international level that’s because the budgets of R&D in Arab world are less than expected comparing with research budgets in the developed countries. Furthermore, we need to bridge the gap among the private sector and research centers at universities to create a knowledge based economy
At last, the assistant university rector of graduate studies and scientific research for qualitative initiatives Dr.Ebtisam Al-Olayan thanked KSU rector for his effort in promoting research publication to achieve an advanced world ranking. Also, she thanked the vice rector of graduate studies and scientific research for his support to the researchers whether faculty members or students
