General Secretariat Office

 

His Excellency the University President issued Decision No. 86106/3/1 dated 27/03/1445 AH, approving the establishment of the General Secretariat Office for the Research Ethics Committee. This comes within the framework of enhancing the scientific research system and ensuring adherence to approved ethical standards, contributing to the promotion of research integrity and the improvement of scientific research quality.

The organizational structure of the General Secretariat Office includes:

  • Chairperson of the Standing Committee for Scientific Research Ethics
  • Secretary of the Standing Committee for Scientific Research Ethics
  • Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee for Scientific Research Ethics

The office also includes the following units:

  • Secretariat Unit
  • Research Services Unit
  • Administrative Affairs Unit
  • Reports Unit
  • Financial Unit

The Office’s Functions Include:

  • Receiving and processing grievance requests in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Preparing annual reports.
  • Establishing the University Monitoring Office and overseeing its implementation to ensure ongoing adherence to research ethics.
  • Creating a comprehensive archive that includes accepted, rejected, and pending applications, with detailed documentation for each case.
  • Recording and tracking cases of violations of research ethics and taking appropriate measures to ensure compliance with ethical standards.

The office aims through these tasks to improve overall performance and ensure compliance with the highest ethical standards in scientific research.


For Complaints and Objections:

To ensure the proper handling of anonymous complaints in accordance with systems and regulations related to research ethics, and based on the rules to reduce the impact of malicious complaints and false claims as issued by the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (94) dated 25/04/1406 AH, and Resolution No. 4/B/46638, and based on the provisions therein, the Subcommittee for Case Review regrets to inform that it cannot consider any complaint unless the following conditions are met:

  • The complaint must be sent from the official email address of the institution where the complainant works. Complaints sent from personal or unofficial email addresses will not be considered. The complainant may also submit an official letter to the Office of the Secretary of the Standing Committee for Scientific Research Ethics. In both cases, the complainant must provide their National ID or residency number.
  • The complaint must be complete with all attachments and supporting evidence. The complainant must respond to the committee and provide any clarifications or additional information requested.
  • The complaint must not be currently under review by another entity, nor should it have been previously settled by a competent authority.
  • The complaint must be strictly related to research ethics.
